We’ve Covered the Good of Detox! But what about the Bad and Ugly?

I have LOVED sharing with you some information about detoxing so far! April has come to an end, but I have a few more topics that I’m finishing up so stay on the lookout through May to learn even more.

Detoxes help to get your liver working in a more efficient way, but to do this, there may be some obstacles to overcome. Side effects of a detox will vary from person to person depending on how much your body needs to clear out. Symptoms that most commonly occur include fatigue, brain fog, food cravings, headaches, irritability, bloating, nausea and possibly skin rashes. Typically, these side effects only last for the first 3-5 days so be sure to keep this in mind if you are planning your own detox.

It is also important to keep in mind that detoxification side effects may continue during the fat burning process. When we are exposed to toxins in our environment and our body cannot deal with eliminating all of them, it shunts them to be stored in fat. This is a protective mechanism that your body is using to take care of you so that you don’t have excess toxins floating around that you can’t get rid of. However, the more toxins that are stored in a person’s fat, the more this increases their “total toxic load”. According to Dr. Walter Crinnion, this toxic load can cause problems such as asthma and allergies, cognitive problems, depression, fatigue, headaches, memory problems and chronic pain. So, while the fat burning process may exacerbate some of these symptoms, he explains that with proper detoxification and elimination a person will feel better overall because they are decreasing their total toxic load.

While the initial steps may be tough, the lasting results will make it worth it! After a detox, the body doesn’t have to fight against a heightened toxic burden and the liver becomes be ready to take charge and metabolize more efficiently. I encourage you to talk to your doctor if you have an interest in treating your body to a detox. Like my YouTube channel to keep up to date for more exciting information.
