What Does a Detox Look Like for Me?

Anyone else in the trenches of spring cleaning??? I am currently in my 4th year of medical school and planning a wedding so things seem to pile up fast. I try to stay on top of it by keeping things organized and taking care of my body. This month I decided to do a little extra spring cleaning by treating my body to a detox. There are a broad range of detoxes and different types are better for different reasons, but here’s what this detox looks like for me: 

🥦Plant based/whole food diet with fiber rich foods – Consisting of mostly fruits and vegetables with some whole grains, nuts, legumes, and occasionally some lean meat mixed in 

🍟No processed foods or sugars 🍪

🍻No alcohol 

☕️Minimal caffeine 

😴Intermittent fasting of 12-16 hours with plenty of rest 

💧Lots of water 

💪🏼 Light exercise – but enough to break a sweat 

❤️Lots of self love and laughter – because that’s the best medicine 😉
